Adopted – 1 February 2010
In accordance with the Local Government Act 1974, the Local Government Ombudsman (LGO) has no jurisdiction over parish and town councils in England.
There are no statutory mechanisms in place should complaints be made against local councils in England.
To assist local councils to deal with complaints they receive, a copy of LTN 9 is available from the Clerk.
This outlines whether a complaints procedure is appropriate or whether other procedures or bodies should be contacted.
This page is an example of a shortened version of the Town Council Complaints procedure.
